Text: I Samuel 1:27
A man from priestly family, Elkanah. Who had two wives, namely, Hannah and Paninnah. Of whom former had no child. Which in turn became a symbol of her shame and agony. But Hannah prayed and received blessing from God.
Let's learn couple of lessons from this great woman of prayer:
Who do we approach during the time of our crisis???
When Hannah had problem she didn't go to any man, namely, priest, prophet, leader, elder or neighbour but she directly made her way towards God. This signifies an important lesson for us, generally left-out in hustles of life. Whenever we find ourselves amidst the struggles of life, being treated unjustly, as seems to us, we must look at God not mere men. Many so called Christians try to tackle the situations by using their own man-power and influence and if failed, take the help of other human agencies. This indirectly demonstrates insignificance of prioritising God in our day today life.
Is it for the glory of God ???
Another lesson Hannah is here to teach is the question that we must ask before we demand anything from God in prayer.
Hannah, even before getting her prayer answered, she made an oath before God about giving back the son that God might or might not give her in the future. This is again an important lesson for all prayer warriors, who have experienced the failure of unanswered prayers. This could be one of the few reasons many of our prayers are not answered, we pray for our selfish needs to be met but not for God's glory. As James pictures it well in 4:3. Let's our prayer become a means to glorify God and God alone.
Hannah, a woman, stands as a model for us in this very hour of our misery, if it is really there!!!!
