Proverbs 27:6 says, "Honest are the Wounds given by a friend but kiss of an enemy is deceitful".
Present world seems to be becoming ever more duplicitous than before. One reason for this may be the pressure from the folks connected through social media. Here acceptance becomes pivotal. We live in a world where for acceptance people do anything and everything. Even the criticism and encouragement tend to emerge out of deception and envy. Friendship becomes a means of finding own way out of trouble, causing other to feel more desirous about oneself. And such friends driven by self-centredness, envy, jealousy and hatred instead giving wound of correction they embrace with the kisses of false encouragement and empty hope, in doing so they support the erroneous behaviours of the other friend, becoming part of their eventual perdition. Amidst such falsehood and infamy of friendship You need to seek for friends who are so honest that though he/she would grace you with wounds (positive criticism) but will save you from the worst.
