1st of April is celebrated as April Fool's Day across the globe. It's almost like a license for the people for making attempts in fooling whoever they wish. I’ve had a lot of April Fool’s jokes pulled on me, and I must confess that I’ve pulled off a few pretty good ones myself. But one thing I’ve observed that no one likes being called a fool or much less being made to look like a fool. We like to consider of ourselves as savvy, astute, and sharp or the one who is not easily duped. But when we compare ourselves by God’s principles, we might be astonished at how much we merit the title of wise.
Did you know, for example, that the Bible says we are fools if we . . .
• Fool spreads slander (Proverbs 10:18)
• Fools think we’re right in our own eyes rather than listening to wise counsel (Proverbs 12:15)
• Fool discards parent’s chastisement (Proverbs 15:5)
• Fool pleasures only in revealing own mind rather than in understanding (Proverbs 18:2)
• Fools are perverse in speech instead of walking in honesty (Proverbs 19:1)
• Fool disputes instead of keeping away from discord (Proverbs 20:3)
• Fool always loses temper (Proverbs 29:11)
According to the Bible the ultimate fool is the one who says and lives as though “there is no God.” While all that is going on, don’t forget to honor God’s will and ways in your heart. Life is too short and too serious to live it as a fool! Let’s, as people around us spend time fooling each other, analyse our own lives whether we are being counted as wise or fool in God’s sight.
